Our contractor and his crew are amazing! Last week the roof was framed in and covered with plywood. They were going to start the roof shingles but it rained Thursday night so that was delayed until the wood could dry out. Fortunately no more rain and the roof dried fast due to breezy conditions! Last week they also built the stairs from the first floor to second floor! So now we can enter the basement, walk up the basement stairs to the first floor and walk up the stairs to the second floor! Today they started working on the farmers porch! And finally the power company completed the wiring from the Main Street pole across the street to our street pole out front, and underground wires to the meter! Yay! So exciting!
I don’t have photos of the stairs yet as my son didn’t think to take any! But my grandson walked up the stairs to the loft and I have a photo of him looking out the window up there! Can barely see him but he is there! So cute! Zoomed in photo following this first one!
Photo of the roof shingles being worked on!
Power company there with the crane today! Not a great photo since it comes from the security camera and I had to zoom in to see this.
And, the farmers porch work begins! This is needed now due to the roof that meets up with the main roof. They shingled the main roof to a certain point and now need the farmers porch roof so they can complete all of the roof shingles before winter. The goal was to have the entire shell of the house up and weather tight before the first snowfall. Once the roof is done, I know they will get the doors and windows installed. Log siding will likely also be done soon around the foundation areas as well as around the upstairs dormer.
So, here’s the photo of the beginnings of the farmers porch!
Not sure when the deck will be started. It may not get done until next spring, but I’m hoping it’s up before winter! I just can’t wait to see it! And I can’t wait to stand on it to capture the view from it! Here is the floor plan that shows how the farmers porch will wrap around to the deck!

And, while I’m at it, the floor plan for the second floor.
And a photo of about what it will look like! Our farmers porch will be two feet wider than this. Instead of six feet wide, it will be eight feet wide! That extra two feet will make all of the difference, especially with furniture in that area!
My son sent these photos from his game camera that he placed on our property! Lots of deer!
I am hoping to get up to New Hampshire this weekend! It is only Monday today and with four days to go before the weekend, I can only imagine what will be accomplished by then! Can’t wait to walk up the stairs to the loft for the first time! So exciting!
Everything's looking really good!!! It's really taking shape!!! The roof looks great!
