Foundation Update!

The remainder of the forms have been put into place for the remainder of the foundation! The concrete will be poured on Friday, three days from now! I’m sure it will be cured by Monday and the forms taken down. Next step is building up the side facing the mountains with logs (eight feet high) with window and walk out door within this wall! And logs will also be used to build up half of both sides (4 feet high concrete with four feet of log walls). The other half of the sides will have concrete with walls that are eight feet high; and the wall facing the street will also be an eight-foot high concrete wall with two small foundation windows toward the top! My son stopped by a short time ago and provided this update for us!

You can see in the difference in the height of the concrete walls in these photos. The shorter walls will be built up with logs to match the higher walls! It is going to look awesome when the logs are all in place! Once all of the walls are at the same height, the foundation will be capped and our log cabin will be built on top of this! Also, where the wall is facing the street, lots of clean fill will be brought in to bring the ground/driveway up to nearly the top of the foundation wall, to just below the tiny foundation windows. The ground will gradually slope down along each side to the floor level of the basement facing the mountains! It’s going to be great to have a walk out basement that comes out into level ground!

  1. Wow! Amazing progress! They typically arrive before the sun comes up to fill with cement! At least, that's how they did it here! So exciting!!!
