First Delivery!

The first delivery of the materials have been delivered to start building our new log home! These are the supplies for capping the foundation, to frame the lower portions of the foundation for the log walls, and to build the deck and farmer’s porch! There won’t be any railings on the deck and farmer’s porch initially. That will come later! But soon I will be able to stand on our deck and farmer’s porch and see what our view looks like from there! On this property, the higher up you go, the better the view! The deck will be about eight feet higher than ground level, which will definitely make a huge difference in our mountain view! So exciting! I can hardly wait to experience this and take photos from the deck! The basement walk out door will be below the deck. It will be a five-foot wide double door! There will also be a window next to it too! The farmer’s porch does not face the mountains as it will be on the side of the house. But it connects directly to the deck! One end of the farmer’s porch will be closer to ground level. I’m guessing it will have about four to five steps there, facing the road. The other end of the farmer’s porch will be eight feet off the ground where it joins the deck out back!

The rest of the materials (logs, windows, doors, etc) will be delivered next week! The logs will be stored outside but everything else will be stored in the basement during the build.

This is an example of what the house will look like on the side facing the mountains! Imagine this house turned so that the deck faces downhill, with no stairs. Our deck will be higher than this deck is. And the farmer’s porch, instead, will be on the down hill slope with one end being as high as the deck and the other end being closer to ground level. So the open deck will face the mountains!

The view from inside will also be gorgeous through our windows!

Today they prepared to pour the concrete for the basement floor, which is being done tomorrow! There are chalk lines in place to guide the height of the floor.

Lots of pics tonight as I am up in New Hampshire for a few days, just 1.4 miles down the road staying with my son and his family! While up here I got to enjoy my grandchildren and am thrilled to have been able to be a part of my grandson’s first day of school! He is in preschool this year so it’s his first time attending school! Super special week!

Here are lots of photos!

The plastic on the floor, the chalk markings and framing at the edge were done today to prepare for tomorrow when the concrete will be poured for the basement floor! The pipe there leads to the septic and can be used for a bathroom in the basement, which would give us three bathrooms!

A couple of palates of supplies behind the house next to the septic system.

Another pallet of supplies placed next to the house.

And another bunch of supplies in front of the house. The longest boards there will be used to build the center joist.

And more supplies behind the house.

More supplies placed on the other side of the house.

More views!

My truck on the driveway. If you zoom in you can see the road. We will be living on a dirt road. The road leading up from the center of town is paved but the pavement ends shortly before our home. So we don’t have to drive far on dirt road. But the town maintains the dirt road quite well! So it’s not a very rough road, which is good.

More pics!
