Major Updates Today!

First, the foundation is now capped! Aside from closing in the areas where the framing is, we now officially have a basement! And the second half of the log cabin kit was delivered, which includes everything needed to build the house: Logs, windows, doors, etc.! With the foundation now capped, our contractor will now start to build our new home!

We meet with the electrician on Monday to review the plans, such as outlets, light switches, light fixtures, etc.!

And Hubby just told me that when we are there on Monday, our contractor has plans to start the first of the logs, and since we’re going to be there, he will let us place the very first log ourselves! I am so thrilled about this! We are definitely going to get photos and videos of this! Hubby mentioned that maybe we could print out one of the photos as a black and white photo to give it an old-fashioned look and hang it up in the house when the house is done! Now that’s cool!

Well, here are the latest photos! Foundation is capped!!

Our walk out door frame!

This looks so cool being open! Too bad we couldn’t just glass it in instead of logging it in! LOL!! But the farmers porch will be placed along the outside of this side of the foundation, from front to back where it will meet up with the deck, which will block that incoming sunlight. I have a farmer’s porch where we live now and I could never give up having one after fully enjoying it! We sit outside on our farmer’s porch throughout the year! To me, it’s one of the most important features to have!

We now have a basement ceiling! Awesome!

I just LOVE the size of our basement window! Especially with our view!

I LOVE my basement window! What a view! The foliage has just begun! It will be gorgeous when the foliage peeks!

Part of our log cabin kit!

The doors are safely stored in the basement!

Looks like the white door might be the door that exits the house onto the farmers porch! And the larger boxes, I’m guessing, are the sliding glass door that will be in the living-kitchen area leading out to the open deck. I’m not sure if the double doors for the walk out basement door are here. Then again, that white door could be one of two doors for the basement walk out. If so, I’m thrilled to see the glass window as it will allow the the view of the mountains plus even more sunlight to enter the basement!

And these look like the windows for the house! I wonder if one of these is for the big window in the basement?

And the rest of the log cabin kit it outside! Hubby did a couple of panoramas of the property here! Cool!

Here are some videos as well!

  1. The foliage has already begun!!! Nice Andersen windows! I love the doors! This looks amazing!!! Do you have an estimated completion date???

  2. No estimated date of completion yet. The shell of the house with roof will be up before winter, and over the winter the indoor work will be worked on. Likely by the end of this year around Christmas!
