Well Drilling Update

Ugggh! Today the well company drilled down to 900 feet and still no drastic changes! Might have another half to one gallon per minute more. It is too soon to tell. We need to let it sit for a couple of days before they can test it. The rig is still there and I believe they will go up to 1,000 feet if needed.

Before Christmas they initially drilled down to 505 feet and obtained 3/4 gallon per minute. They then drilled another 100 feet and were still at 3/4 gallon per minute. They then hydro-fracked and were still were getting 1.5 gallons per minute, which is “ok” but not ideal. We would have to consistently conserve water, for example quick 2-minute showers. New wells are typically supposed to be 5 gallons per minute. And older wells are usually 3-5 gallons per minute. Our well at our current home was 6 gallons per minute when we had the well inspected in 2015!

Hoping on Monday we will have more positive news after it sits over the weekend. We would be ecstatic if we could just get it to 3 gallons per minute at this point! This sure beats 1.5 gallons per minute! But I think at this point, the well company is not confident will be at 3 gallons per minute and they are thinking we might need to go up to 1,000 feet (another 100 feet). If they do, we are really hoping we suddenly hit the “mother load!” If not, I’m not sure whether or not they can hydro-frack again. Very discouraged at this point. The dollars are adding up fast! It will be at least $11,000 over budget for our well! Ugggh! My daughter-in-law said to remain positive! I have been trying to remain positive but this well situation is beating me up right now!

The top of our property, the highest point, has a 910 foot elevation above sea level level. The lowest point on our property is down by the river, close to a half of a mile away, has a 725 foot elevation above sea level. So the top of our property is 185 feet above the river. At this point the bottom of our well, which is currently 900 feet down, is about 615 feet below the river level and is only about 10 feet from sea level! On Monday when they resume drilling, the bottom of the well will likely be well below sea level! At 910 feet, it will be at sea level. Anything beyond this will be below sea level! Crazy! I sure hope they hit good water shortly beyond 900 feet! Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Photo from our game cam in front of the house. The rig is still there and will remain until done on Monday.
