Success with the Well!!! Yay!!!

Yay! The flow rate testing of our well came in at 6.5 gallons per minute!!! Text from our contractor!

6.5 gpm on todays test of the well 🎉🎉🎉

We also have a static water line of 90 feet!!! HUGE success!!!

The recommendation for a new well is 5 gallons per minute  and for older wells to be 3 to 5 gallons per minute. We now exceed the recommendation!! But it was not easy getting here! It involved drilling, hydro fracking, more drilling and more hydro fracking! The well is now 1,000 feet deep! Incredible!

Before Christmas the well company initially drilled down to 505 feet and obtained 3/4 gallon per minute. They then drilled down another 100 feet and were still at 3/4 gallon per minute. Then they hydro fracked but we were still getting only 1.5 gallons per minute, which is “ok” but not ideal. We would have to consistently conserve water, for example quick 2-minute showers. So we decided to have them come back to drill some more.

On January 3rd the well company drilled down to around 900 feet and STILL no drastic changes! Might have another one half to one gallon per minute more. It was too soon to tell. They thought it would be best to let the well sit for a couple of days over the weekend and recheck it Monday. But, come Monday, it was still no better. They drilled down another 100 feet, a total of 1,000 feet, with no improvement.

I must note that the top of our property, the highest point, where the well is, is 910 feet above sea level level. The lowest point on our property is down by the river, close to a half of a mile away, is 725 feet above sea level. The river is 185 feet below the top of our property where our well is. At 1,000 feet deep, the bottom of our well is is 815 feet lower than the river bed and is 90 feet below sea level! Imagine that? Crazy!

Anyhow, the well company returned last Friday to hydro frack again! Preliminary results looked great! The first time they hydro fracked they were there all day! But on Friday they were only there half a day when they obtained good preliminary results on the pressure gauge! They were fairly confident that the well was successful! Today, after allowing the well to settle over the weekend, they conducted the final flow testing and results were awesome, as noted at the beginning of my blog!!! HUGE relief! Yay!!!

Photos from our game camera out in front of the house where the well is. Unfortunately the camera doesn’t include the actual well itself in view.
