HVAC in Progress!

HVAC guy has been working on installing our heating/cooling units!!! Yay! We’ll have heat in there soon!!! Can’t wait! And central air come summer!

Photo from our game camera out front:

We opted to go with Fujitsu mini split units that are powered by electricity. They’re super efficient so they won’t hit the electrical bill too badly! We’ll have smaller units in each of the 3 bedrooms and one large one for the large area (kitchen, living room, hallways). They have tubing instead of duct work that goes to a unit outside. Latest technology! I’m not sure exactly which Fujitsu model but it will be something like this. The fan unit goes outside and connects to the units inside. Zoned heating and cooling since each unit can be controlled individually!

Here’s the HVAC guy! He was there today and last Friday.

Down in the basement we will have a liquid propane monitor heater. Our plumber is managing this, along with installation of all of the gas lines, as well as the plumbing for water and drainage. We are going to have a gas line to this monitor heater, another one to the stand by generator, another line for the gas stove and one more gas line for the gas clothes dryer. Our plumber is a busy guy for this job! And he is awesome too!

The propane monitor heater is a great back up, such as during extended power outages. We can turn down the heat on the electric units upstairs to relieve strain on the generator. The monitor heater in the basement will keep the basement toasty warm and is capable of heating most of the house too! It will do a good job keeping the first floor of the house warm but it may or may not be able to reach the second floor entirely, but likely will be able to keep it above 60 degrees if we are relying on it for any reason. Heat rises so I bet it will work great if needed for back up! Our basement is open on the side facing the mountains and about half way along each side. Sing the basement is not entirely under ground it likely will need a little heat to keep it warm enough:
