Exterior Work on Log Home is Completed!

Our new log home has undergone its very first treatment!

The treatment started with pressure washing the entire exterior with a special biodegradable, environmentally safe cleaner. Then they sanded everything, followed by caulking all joints between the logs and trim. They applied two coats of oil-based stain on the house and one coat on the deck and farmers porch. They only apply one coat there as it would be slippery when wet if they applied two coats. Also, the deck and farmers porch areas require more frequent treatments; about every two years, because horizontal surfaces take the biggest hit from the sun and rain. The house itself will need to be treated again in about five years.

It just looks beautiful! I love the color! Everything inside is as light in color as the exterior was so it’s nice to have that contrast now!

Here are before and after photos!

And here are the rest of the photos!

Before they initiated the work, everything had to be removed: Deck and farmers porch furniture and the grill, flag pole, Ring camera, four-wheelers, etc. I need to wait one more day before I can put it all back!

It was a lot of work but I managed to get it done myself! I cannot wait to use the farmers porch and deck again! It will be great to be able to get everything back into place tomorrow!

Here are photos that were taken throughout the project.
