Latest Updates!

Yesterday, the site work subcontractor finished regrading the driveway! He brought in more clean fill and used his nifty, little machine to do the work! He used different attachments on this machine at different points in the job! He even has a fork lift attachment to use it as a fork lift! He moved the generator out of the way so he could work on the driveway, and then he moved it again to the area where it will be installed! Hubby wants to buy a piece of equipment that we could use on our property to do improvements such as trails down to the river. I think this is what we should buy! We could buy a few attachments for it too!

Here is the driveway before it was started! During the winter, when the well was installed, a trench was dug for running the lines from the well to the house (electrical lines for the well pump and water line). After the trench was refilled, the fill really settled and we had to use a price of lumbar board to span the trench area so we could safely cross it without risking injury due to the instability of the ground there.

Here it is now! Beautiful! Lots of room to move park and turn around! What a difference!

My son stopped by the house a few days earlier and took some photos for us!

The downstairs bathroom now has the lighted ceiling fan installed! The installation of tongue and groove pine wallboards is almost done too! The glass doors on the shower are in. You can’t see it in this photo but the toilet was also installed.

The second floor master bedroom ceiling it almost done and the closet looks completed for the installation of the tongue and groove wallboards!

The tongue and groove wallboards have also been installed on the walls where the dormer extension is in the master bedroom!

The wall between the stairs and larger first floor bedroom is done as well as the wall along the stairs below!

The smaller first floor bedroom ceiling is completed!

The ceiling in the larger first floor bedroom is fine and it looks like there might be a ceiling light installed!

The ceiling in the great room is nearly complete! Once the peak is done, the lighted ceiling fan will be installed, as well as our kitchen island light!

The kitchen cabinets have been started! So exciting! Once they are in place, our contractor will take measurements to send to the granite company, who will then cut the large granite slab that we already purchased. When the granite is ready, the granite company will deliver and install our new granite countertops! We already ordered and paid for kitchen appliances, which we will schedule for delivery once the kitchen flooring is done, which will be done after all of the kitchen cabinets (lower and upper) are installed! I love the darker wood! It creates some contrast with all of the pine wallboards!

Our house in Connecticut is already under contract with a cash buyer. Extensive inspections were done and we have gotten past all of this phase of the purchase and sales agreement! We close on or before June 13th! The buyer wanted a closing date of May 29th but was flexible with this and gave us the extension. Our goal is to have everything out of the house by Memorial Day weekend so we can close that week instead, so the buyer can get into the house a week sooner. Hopefully our house in New Hampshire is done by then! If not, we can stay with our son for as long as it is needed! We plan to move less-needed items into a storage unit for now and as the house nears completion, we will be able to move items that we will need immediately into our new home! I just can’t believe that in about one month I will no longer be living in Connecticut! My dream of living in New Hampshire, right up the road from my son and his family, and in this brand new dream home and property, is so close! I just can’t believe it! It’s so surreal! Can’t wait!

Anyway, I thought I would also include a bunch of photos of the driveway work, which were taken by our camera on the site! This little machine with multiple attachments is truly amazing! We need to get one of these! Even if we only buy one attachment that we would use the most, I think you can rent attachments too!
