Prepping House for Market
This weekend I did a lot of cleaning to prep our house in CT for the market, which included the upper portion of our living room! There was so much dust up there! The beams are now free of dust, as well as the ceiling fans and chandelier! It sure was a lot of work to get it cleaned up since it is so high up! I had to use my extra tall step ladder and my long pole to reach everything up there! Both ceiling fans are inaccessible without the long pole. They’re both way up at the top! One ceiling fan had an old, broken balloon and string caught on it. I was only able to retrieve the broken balloon but was not able to retrieve all of the string. It was my grandson’s balloon that got tangled up in it. In order to get the string I would need a much taller ladder so I could untangle it by hand. I might have to bring in our standard ladder from outside but I don’t think that ladder is tall enough and I’m not sure what I could safely lean it against. But at least the remaining string isn’t very visible and it does not interfere with the fan running.
Step ladder with vacuum mounted on ladder with bungie cord!
There was a pretty thick layer of dust on the beams! It was very visible from the upstairs loft area where you look down on them. It looks so much better now!
Dust on left, clean on right!
The last of the dust before project completion!
My long extension pole for cleaning up high!
Balloon stuck in ceiling fan!
I tried using the hook on a bungie cord, taped to my extension pole to grab the balloon and string but this didn’t work.
Balloon is gone but some string isn’t still left behind.
At least this worked to retrieve the balloon itself! A dog comb taped to my extension pole!
Here is the old balloon! Glad it’s no longer hanging from the ceiling fan!

Wow! That was quite creative! I never would have thought to use a bungee cord like that! Nice work!!!
