Property Update!
So exciting that our septic design has been completed, signed by us and submitted to the state for final approval! The plans for the driveway, house and septic are ready to be submitted to the town for the building permit once the septic design has been approved by a the state!
Since our house will have three bedrooms, a three-bedroom septic is all that is required. However, for $2,500 extra we opted for a four-bedroom septic, which includes installation of what is needed for plumbing, as far as the septic goes, down in the basement in case we ever decide to add a bathroom there in the future. We already will have two full bathrooms on our main and second floors and we don’t really need a third bathroom. But, if we really wanted to, we could finish the basement with a one-bedroom apartment if we want to, with the potential for rental income if we desire. Or we could add just a bedroom and bathroom down there if desired. Nice to have potential options!
The septic design should be approved by mid-week next week and the building permit within a few weeks. This takes longer because it has to go to a town meeting for final approval. The town meetings are monthly so it all depends on how submission for the building permit and meeting fall into place. There shouldn’t be any issues with the approval of the septic design or building permit.
