Standing In the Basement!

Image
First time standing in our basement! Awesome!!

Our River!

Image
We bought these chairs and table last time we were up in New Hampshire to keep on our property by the River! Love this! Today we brought some Italian subs for lunch and enjoyed it here!!! Just too good to be true that we own this beautiful spot on the river! A dream come true!

Foundation Underway!!!

Image
So exciting! The foundation is underway! Should be done within the next week!

Septic is Done!!!!!

Image
The septic system has been installed and approved by the state. Once approved by the state, the tank and leach field were covered over! So exciting! Next steps: foundation footings, completion of drainage pipes around the base of the foundation, and then the foundation and floor! Half of the foundation concrete walls will be eight feet high, the other half will be four feet high. On the lower section will be logs that will build up to the first floor of our house where a double door walk out plus a window will be incorporated, facing the mountain view. The eight-foot concrete wall facing the road will have two small foundation windows as well. Once the log walls are built up to the first floor of the house, the foundation will be capped and building the actual log cabin house will commence!  Some of the drainage pipes to keep the basement dry have been installed.

New Love Song

Our new song (Hubby and me); came out earlier this year in February 2024 by the Bellamy Brothers and Gene Watson. Perfect song for us!  Forever Ain’t Long Enough Photo of us on our new property in New Hampshire!

Septic System Is Installed!

Image
The septic system has been installed and is pending inspection by the state. Once the inspection is done, it can be backfilled.  Everything is coming along well and so quickly! So exciting to see such progress!  We opted for a four-bedroom septic even though our home will have 3 bedrooms. For an extra $2,500, we could not pass on this option! The septic is driven by bedrooms, which drives the number of occupants in the home more than the number of bathrooms. Technically, someone could have three bedrooms and ten bathrooms and would still only need a three-bedroom septic. There is the potential to add another bedroom in the basement if we, or anyone else in the future, desires. We have no plans for this but will likely add a third bathroom in the basement. The contractor will install the necessary piping to the septic for this. It will be nice to have that extra bathroom in the basement when we or visitors are outdoors, especially if wet after swimming in the river! Keep the me...

More Progress!

Yesterday we met with the contractor and the subcontractor who is working on the site work! The septic might be installed by the end of next week and the foundation for the house will be starting in a couple of weeks! I really love the plan! There will be another 60 to 70 loads of fill brought in! The foundation will be eight feet tall on the front of the house, facing the street, and eight feet tall about half way across the sides. Then it will bump down to 4 feet high for the rest. So our current driveway will be about eight feet higher than it is now, with hardly any grade to it! Almost level with the road! Love it!!  If you zoom in to where the gravel and stakes are, this is where the house is going!  Hubby made a four leaf clover that he installed on one of our trees!  Last weekend my son placed his game camera about half way down our property and yesterday it captured a bobcat! Cool!  And then last night, a nice buck showed up on my son’s game camera! Cool!...
